I'm unable to add content to KernelTrap for the next two or three weeks, as I'm in the middle of a move. Once settled down into my new home, I hope to find much more time for KernelTrap than I've had in recent months.
I recently hired Trae McCombs, founder of themes.org and linux.com, to give KernelTrap an improved look. The theme is not completely finished yet, but is ready to be previewed. I don't expect everyone to like the new look, but would be interested in hearing about any technical problems people may run into it so we can get them resolved before the new theme goes live. Drupal has been upgraded from 4.5 on the live site to 4.7 on the new site. Please leave any comments about the new site here, or drop me an email.
KernelTrap has retired the old logo, introducting our new mascott, Trap. Trap is of course a highly evolved Venus FlyTrap, illustrated by the gifted Mili Ombasic from Omili.com Designs, a Yugoslavian graphic design student living in Ottawa, Canada. In time, the new logo will be available on various pieces of KernelTrap memorabilia, beginning soon with our first t-shirt.
I'm in the process of updating the KernelTrap theme. So far the biggest difference is that the actual layout/presentation is now fully handled by CSS [blog]. Beyond that, I'm hoping to have time tomorrow to update the overall structure (explained below).
Please let me know if the new theme is intolerable on your browser. I've only tested with a couple of Linux browsers, and it seems fine there. This theme should at least be more respectful of your own font preferences and hopefully easier to read... I'm still learning CSS, and I'm fully open to suggestions...
