It is unusual for gaming consoles to allow foreign operating systems to be installed on them. Sony decided to open up the PS3 console and allow third-party operating systems to be installed. Learn how to get started developing for the Cell BE processor on the PS3. This article provides an overview, installation, and first programming steps.
While understanding VFS and its structures I feel that VFS is compatible to file systems which have block size 2powerN and less then page size 4KB only.
If this is so I wonder whether a file system of cluster size of around few MBs and not equal to 2powerN, but which is multiple of sector size 512, be integrated in to VFS or NOT.
If some one explains the role of LIBFS in integrating any new file system to Linux would be great.

Hello,
After compiling kernel, the /lib/modules/.../build contains a soft link to kernel sources directory:
[root@/lib/modules/2.6.11-1.1369_FC4]# ls -al
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 47 Feb 8 2006 build -> /usr/src/kernels/2.6.11-1.1369_FC4-i686
I need to reduce the size of /usr/src/kernels and leave only necessary includes in order to be able to build/compile modules. So I need to remove *.c, *.S, ...

Do you have any suggestion(s) to improve the network performance especially on the kernel front.
thanks,

WINE is getting very good at running a lot of Windows programs well on Linux. But when I open
WINE Notepad, File->Open, I see my Linux home directory (all of it). That means any Wine-compatible malware can see all of my files as well, so now credit card numbers, etc. can be sent "home" by malware as in real Windows.
So I should install anti-virus, anti-spyware, ... under Wine to try to protect my Linux files. It makes running Linux kind of pointless! I don't like that such a product has been incorporated into most Linux distros without any security thought!
hi all
Most of us r aware of the "./configure" while building some apps from soure. While configure is running i observed that it buidls a 'sample code'
with the configuration found and tries to run it succesfully, before it goes for further configuration.
The problem is , if we r cross compiling, it may run the target code on the host(i686) and complains -"cannot run test program while crosscompiling".
