Linux Application Service Engineer

This position is part of Engineering operations, maintaining application systems in production and pre-production 24/7 environments. Will be responsible recommending, installing, configuring and maintaining Web application system servers. This includes the operating system and program products such as Jboss, Tomcat Application Servers and Apache server in Linux environment. Will be responsible for release, configuration management, provide Tier-1 production support on Java based Application services for internal & external clients and insure application availability and ensure that response time goals are met

Candidate MUST have:

** Experience supporting a 24x7x365 customer-visible production web environment
** Advanced Linux/UNIX command-line proficiency
** Advanced Bourne shell scripting, perl scripting proficiency
** Bachelors Degree in Information Systems (IS), Computer Science (CS), or Business discipline with minor in IS or CS or equivalent related experience required.
** Must have a minimum of 5 years recent experience with REDHAT Linux Operating system.
** Working knowledge of Redhat Linux
** Advanced proficiency with CVS, including branching, merging, and administration
** Software configuration management experience - A track record of successful builds, releases, and deployments
** Working knowledge of Ant and Maven2
** Tomcat configuration and support experience
** JBoss & Weblogic Application Server & Apache HTTP configuration and support experience
** Familiarity with any Help desk ticketing systems
** Login and file transfer experience with SSH and SCP
** Basic SQL, Oracle SQLLDR experience
** Experience configuring and using CruiseControl
** Excellent troubleshooting skills
** Experience juggling daily tasks and longer-term project work, process improvement
** Good communications and customer service skills, both written and oral, with both technical and non-technical people

Candidate Nice to have:

** Administrator-level knowledge of Red Hat Linux
** Java programming experience
** Oracle administrative experience
** MySQL administrative experience
** Experience processing XML with XPath and XSLT
** ProFTPD administration experience
** Mailman administration experience
** Proficiency using RPM to package sofware
** Experience with HTML, JavaScript, and CGI
