With Alan Cox [interview] planning to take a year off [story], the fate of his -ac kernel tree is up in the air. Alan's earlier comment about this was:
"I'm not sure what to do about the -ac patch. Most of the remaining stuff is "pending Marcelo" for 2.4 mainstream, but not the O(1) scheduler and some of the odder cool stuff (like the morse bits). As 2.6 becomes relevant 2.4-ac basically becomes a fixed collection of add-ons that aren't mainstream anyway. And of course there are other people keeping patch sets in the same way nowdays."
Following the recent release of a new 2.4 kernel [forum], Bernhard Rosenkraenzer offered a port of -ac for the new 2.4.22 kernel called -pac, or 'ported -ac', saying, "I'll keep syncing changes that make sense, and adding other stuff [like updated ACPI patches etc.] for a while [at least until we're ready to move to 2.6 fulltime]."

It can be downloaded at http://www.arklinux.org/~bero/kernel/patch-2.4.22-pac1.bz2 [pac is short for "Ported -ac"]. I'll keep syncing changes that make sense, and adding other stuff [like updated ACPI patches etc.] for a while [at least until we're ready to move to 2.6 fulltime]. Not much of a changelog necessary for the first release: - Port 2.4.22-rc2-ac3 changes to apply to 2.4.22 (me) LLaP bero -- Ark Linux - Linux for the masses http://www.arklinux.org/ Redistribution and processing of this message is subject to http://www.arklinux.org/terms.php
