2006 In A Nutshell

2006 sucked.
That's the long story short.

Highs, in order: Lake Tahoe, Joshua Tree National Park, Rocky Point Mexico, Lake Bartlett Arizona, my 30th birthday party, Newport, Oregon, my annual Halloween bash, and going snowboarding in Vail with my buddy Vince.

Lows, in order: getting diagnosed with testicular cancer, losing Mr. Lefty, finding out it metastasized, undergoing three rounds of BEP chemotherapy, losing my girlfriend, and finally, losing my amazingly healthy, 54-year-old father after he dies, quite unexpectedly, of a heart attack.

Great as the year started off, it's been sort of a slide since May. I think Lows won out for 2006.

On the bright side, I figure things can only go up from here. I'm cancer free. My mom is coping with the death of my father very well, considering how he doted over her and took care of her for 34 years. I've started working out with my buddy Jason at an honest-to-God gym, and still rock climb, so I can certainly say I'm doing my part to stay healthy. My job is still awesome.

So here's to hoping 2007 is an unbelievably good year for me. But..I'll take what I can get.

Morals for 2006: be thankful, appreciate what you have, live for the moment, and be a nice guy. Word.

dang.

Hey Neil..don't know ya from Adam. In fact, I am right now researching the year 2006 "in a nutshell" for a radio show I write. And - landed upon your blog. Sounds like a trying year for ya....but you seem to have the best attitude. And that makes all the difference.

From one stranger to another: HAVE A WICKED 2007!!

Where are the stories of debauchery with midgets and accidental goat sodomy?
