Openbsd 3.9 Firewall issues

Hello im new to Openbsd but not unix. Im trying to setup an firewall using pf in openbsd 3.9 ive setup my nic cards which are both 3com nics, now the issue that im having is that on the internal nic card i have a crossover cable running from the interal nic to the uplink port on a cisco switch. when i plugged in the crossover cable im not gettting a link light. however to take that same cable and connect it to my linksys router i get a link light. can someone help me out on this one ??.

yes the normal cable works, but the reason that im using a crossover cable is to provide internet connectivity for the rest of the computers plugged into the switch.

I believe Linksys routers can detect if the cable is crossover or not and work indifferently with both.

I'm pretty sure my WRT54G can do that.

You don't need a crossover cable

You'll need a crossover cable to connect only (two ) ethernet devices back-to-back.
If you are using an Ethernet switch, you must to use a normal ethernet cable, not crossover. The crossover cable must be required to connect the *BSD firewall to the ISP router, gateway, etc...
