hi
First off let me say i am using FreeBSD 6.1

i believe most of my problms are caused by poor pkg_add
or mistyping the commands and or wrong paths in command lines
the only thing i ever installed successfully was gaim lol
it seemd simple
pkg_add -r gaim
and bingo there it was in my program menu
i have dont things like that before but not seen them show up in the menu
anyways

i can not seem to get anythign to work right
i tried the port upgrades
and failed after 20 minutes thinkng it was working
though when i did a pkg_version -v
tons of files showed as upgraded but more said upgrades needed
i need a step by step instruction to get at least one or two packages installed successfully
even if i download a file manually

please anyone if you can help me first install quicktime
so i can see hear audio and see video on my web pages
then maybe help me with the java part? :)
