I had mentioned earlier in one of my blogs about phishing attacks with the example of an attack that steals your Yahoo! id/password.
Firefox (in conjunction with Google) has launched a Phishing Protection (a.k.a. Safe Browsing ) tool to protect against these attacks. It appears that the tool currently maintains a list of black-listed sites and shows up a warning message when a hit occurs. Now that is something which will keep people from losing their credentials. And yes it works, a hyperlink took me to this page, and bang came the warning.
( Caution: Don't enter a *real* username/passwd on this page.)
Kudos Firefox! Kudos Google!
While we are at it, most likely, one of the Dreamz BE projects is aimed at research in this phishing domain. Specifically, on how to learn whether a site is a fake one or not... More later.
