We slept in, got a slow late start on day four. We found a park on a big lake a little ways off the freeway and took a couple hours break to stretch our legs, ride bikes, go for walks, nap, and try to forget just briefly our little wheeled prison. We also tried to not think about the evacuation signs peppering the park which was just down river from a nuclear power plant.
We drove through Arkansas into Oklahoma. After a late dinner in Oklahoma City, we found a motel in Elk City, vowing to get up early and push through to New Mexico or even Colorado tomorrow.

Haelo's always in a good mood, currently enjoying a little shade and soltitude in the park. (In truth, she prefers company to soltitude, though perhaps not the company of the two cats that are always crowding her space.)

In contrast, tripper is not always in a good mood. He's not especially fond of the car, nor is he especiallly fond of being tied to a tree.

Cooking up some dinner, playing with fire. Fire's cool.

Amie cutting up some garlic to add to dinner, enjoying the break in the park.

These little maps were peppering the park. I thought they were maps of the park, but a closer inspection revealed that they taught us what to do if there was a nuclear meltdown of the local nuclear power plant. Oddly enough none of the instructions involved running away as fast as you could.

The view from the park. Fortunately the distant power plant didn't melt down during our visit.
