NOC Systems Administrator (3+ month contract)

Primary Job Responsibilities

Our client is looking for a NOC Unix Systems Administrator to join its top notch Network Operations team.
This candidate should be an energetic and a well-rounded Unix Systems Administrator with proven technical experience and sheer enthusiasm to be able to support Our client’s site and suite of services in a 24/7, dynamic and fast-paced growing E-commerce production environment. Being good at Unix is simply not enough! We’re looking for someone who is versatile technically, has the aptitude to increase technical breadth and the attitude and personality to help grow/maintain a World Class NOC organization

Key Responsibilities:

• Work within a NOC team to provide front line support of Our client’s production site and services
• Proactively monitor and troubleshoot production systems to identify discrepancies and potential problems using Big Brother, Hobbit, Tivoli and other NOC monitoring tools
• Independent problem solver with proven technical problem solving experience
• Provide phone/email support to all of our client/Our client’s internal customers
• Closely manage change to the production site to maintain stability and availability
• Work with multiple teams of various technical disciplines, typically via a conference call, to not only fix issues but able to provide timely status and complete updates in corresponding ticket(s)
• Make sound decisions in extremely short time frames under immense pressure in a complex technical environment
• Able to Work the Graveyard shifts as required to support a 24x7 staffing model which may include weekends and Holidays
• Be flexible to working overtime as needed
• Model the our client behaviors to facilitate a safe and equitable working environment

Job Requirements
(Knowledge, skills, abilities, experience required to perform job)

• 3-5 years of 24/7/365 NOC experience preferably in a Payments/Finance environment
• 3-5 years of Unix/Lunix/Solaris experience
• Solid knowledge of operating system internals, file system structures, and machine architectures in a UNIX/Linux environment
• World class verbal and written communication skills with customer satisfaction as the main focus
• Proven problem solving skills with an emphasis on quick problem resolution in a large eCommerce environment
• Able to flourish in a fast paced, high pressure environment on every shift!
• Ability to keep abreast of technological changes and innovation and their applicability to the company's goals
• Proven experience with Mail, DNS, TCP/IP
• Intermediate LAN/WAN experience
• Working knowledge of relational Databases preferably Oracle
• Experience with web development technologies like HTML, XML, XSL, Java
• Working knowledge of SAN technologies, Oracle, PERL, AWK, SED, load balancing technologies, and shell scripting
