But anyone who knows me knows that I'd have to post on 6/6/6. A co-worker and I were sure to play a little bit of Slayer for the occasion.
So I haven't blogged in like a month. Almost. Sorry. Partly I have been really bust living life and not really writing about it, but part of me has just been a bit lazy.
So here's the quick updates:
- I spent the last weekend recording an EP with the band. We've got drums, bass, and most of the guitars down. The guy who owns the studio is out of town for a few weeks, which gives us some time to get the final lyrics figured out and work on harmonies.
- During the recording session, as I was getting my bass amp ( GK 1001RB )set up, my amp blew. Unfortunately, it's out of warranty (you may remember when I bought it here). Band practice got called off today, so I opened it up and found that R49 was blown. The resistor smoked itself so thoroughly that there are no bands left to read the value to replace it. So if you have schematics, or at least can tell me the value or the color codes on this resistor, I'd be very happy. You can email me at: sean AT catfeeder DOT net.
- Since I had no amp to record with, Larry the recording guy initally tried to run me into a Sansamp box, but as it turns out, I play hard enough to overdrive the input of the box. He hooked me straight into his Avalon tube preamp / compressor and from there, into the board and computer. I wasn't a big fan of direct, but man, it sounds really good.
- More work to the El Camino....two weekends ago, Erik came out again and I solved the lock problem by installing a keyless entry system in it.
- Kari goes to Malaysia for two weeks here soon....so time for me to like clean my apt. or something....
