how to compress the size of the root filesystem

hi all,

i ported linux 2.6.12 kernel to arm board, i have using flash filesystem for root filesystem( jffs2 ). Filesystem size comes to 16MB after using jffs2 , i have to compress it further for flash type. Is there is any filesystem for flash, which compress further, help me in this issue

squashfs2 is a read only compressed filesystem which is very efficient.
