The OpenBSD project has a stable release once every 6 months, with OpenBSD 3.8 currently available for pre-order and scheduled for official availability on November 1'st, 2005. Each release of OpenBSD has its own song with a unique sound and theme [story], each available for download in ogg and mp3 format. The current release "song" is actually a four and a half minute radio play, titled "Hackers of the Lost RAID".
OpenBSD creator Theo de Raadt [interview] talks about the upcoming release and the choice of theme, "many wonderful new things have made it into OpenBSD 3.8, but we wanted to focus on one particular thing -- our support for native free-software RAID management on at least one brand of RAID card, those made by AMI." OpenBSD users relying on ami MegaRAID controllers will welcome 3.8's new bioctl command [story], a framework that will be expanded to support additional controllers in future releases.
From: Theo de Raadt [email blocked] To: misc Subject: OpenBSD 3.8 song Date: Tue, 27 Sep 2005 10:25:14 -0600 The OpenBSD 3.8 song is now available, at http://www.openbsd.org/lyrics.html#38 Many wonderful new things have made it into OpenBSD 3.8, but we wanted to focus on one particular thing -- our support for native free-software RAID management on at least one brand of RAID card, those made by AMI. The song is entitled "Hackers of the Lost RAID". I hope people enjoy it. Both ogg and mp3 versions are available. But please also look at what is up and coming in 3.8 http://www.openbsd.org/38.html (As always, the song is released a little bit after pre-orders go up, to encourage a few more people to order our CDs or tshirts, or donate to the project. It is this small bit of revenue that keeps our project active at doing these things. And... the hackathon hotel is already pre-booked for next year :)
Time to lose the CD?
I don't want a CD! But I could pay a reasonable sum direct to the project for download of the .iso images.
The CD:s are only making the manufacturer & Canadian post rich!
And guys, you can make a complete secure OS, but not an order page that tells total cost including shipping!
Posters
Buy some posters. That's partly what they're for.

As for the ISO: Build one yourself. There are no official ones as you know - but there are plenty of howtos available on the Net. And it really is not hard.
And don't bother downloading
And don't bother downloading one of the many non-official ISO files you can find all around. They are backdoored, one by one.
huh
hello troll, you're everywhere... go back to misc@, shut up and hack (not pseudo hack)
OpenBSD functions
The OpenBSD 3.8 Release has a RAID management interface and driver for Compaq Smart ARRAY 5 and 6 RAID controllers and that is what i need. Good job
