First of all I'm a Linux Newbie...

I have just freshly installed Fedora Core 3 I think the kernel is 2.6 and I was trying to re-compile the modem driver I was using with core 1. I realized I didn't have the kernel source package and my makefile for the driver needs the kernel source headers. However, I have read in the release notes for FC3 that you do not necessarily need the source package to build a module or (I'm also assuming meaning) compiling a driver against the currently-in-use-kernel ??? However, being a Linux newbie I can't figure out how to make use of the example in the release notes or where or how I can fit it into the makefile which makes or compiles my modem driver ??? Please help
