Linux Technical Project Manager (GNOME/freedesktop.org) - Helsinki, Finland

In this role your talents will be put to work developing mobile devices based on Linux and other open source projects such as GNOME and freedesktop.org. You will lead projects to use software from these and other OSS projects, enhance it working with the OSS communities and integrate it into Nokia products. You will work with a team of specialists and with various subcontractors.

Requirements:

You have a proven track record in Linux software design and implementation and are familiar with Linux GUI technology, the GNOME development platform and the freedesktop.org software project. You are comfortable interacting with OSS communities and understand OSS practices and licenses. We appreciate any experience you have of software integration and testing, particularly with OSS. It will also be to your advantage if you are familiar with software product development, embedded software, internationalization and localization. What’s more, you are a talented project manager with good communication and leading skills. You are able to work within strict deadlines and quality guidelines. Business Unit Description:

The Multimedia organization brings mobile multimedia to consumers in the form of advanced mobile devices and applications. Our products have innovative features and functionality such as imaging, games, music, media and a range of other attractive content. Our platform team, located in Tampere and Helsinki, is constructing a software platform for mobile devices using Linux and other open source technologies within concrete product programs. Besides being in charge of requirement specifications, design, implementation and system testing of the innovative products being developed, we also look after subcontractor management.
