Which options do I need to set in kernel 2.6.x to enable P4 HyperThreadind?

SMP + SMT

SMP and optionally SMT. SMP enables the 2nd logical cpu to be seen and SMT optimises performance specifically for hyperthreading once SMP is enabled.
