"Networking options" ... Sanitizing Kconfig

I think that the current place of "Networking options" (I'm talking 'make menuconfig' here) under "Device Drivers -> Networking support" is not very logical... What are Networking options (netfilter, QOS, ipv6, gre, multicast, etc.) doing in device drivers?

It would be more logical if "Networking options" is in the root of the config.
Anybody knows who's responsible for this, and are there any plans to change it?

Sorry, but I disagree. The Networking Options are a subset of the Available Network Drivers. So they belong where they are.

The networking options are pretty much independent of the network hardware drivers in every way other than that they both involve networking. They don't need to be tied together in the config menu at all.

The networking options were in the root menu for the 2.4 series. Why it was changed to a less logical place in 2.6 is a mystery to me.

Maybe someone can comment on that?
