Who needs a drink?

I do. What a depressing day yesterday. First off, we're now stuck with a complete wanker in the office of the president for four more years. I know Kerry wasn't an ideal candidate, but I absolutely cannot believe that slightly better than half of America wanted Bush back. I'm failing to see the good he's doing for this country. Maybe it's just me, but why is he wasting time pursuing completely socially nonconstructive things like attemping to ban gay marraige (*why* do you people care?) or pissing everybody in the world off at us with phony wars.

Work was sort of crappy yesterday too. The network kept going up and down all afternoon, and that hosed stuff up. Then our AIX guy pronounced a server that we've been fighting for a while to be officially hosed. Normally I wouldn't care but the resulting loss meant that we are trying to put up a replacement (meaning, SuSE Linux on one of the new IBM OpenPower 720 machines.) This would have been fine, but the Hardware Management Console had a VRM fault and wouldn't start, and IBM refuses to believe that its type (7310-CR2) actually exists. I finally got a service call placed to IBM: they would accept the fact that it's an xSeries box, and none of the phone people even knew what an HMC actually was! I got a call placed using not the machine type and serial that is stamped into the front of the machine, but a different type and serial inside of the machine. Note to IBM: Quit building xSeries out of crap. Get phone reps that don't have speech impediments. Get phone reps that know the products.

Blah. I have an audition today to play the drums for a band. Maybe I'll get it. Damn, I want to play in a band, bad.

Woah...

i think everyone had a bad day yesterday. on my way home, i considered forcing myself to drink liquor. i needed to drown my sorrows. instead i used raspberry sherbet. but before i got to that, i almost cried because i couldn't find the parmesan cheese. that was my level of frustration.
