From bell labs, with love

I was talking with a friend of mine at a coffee shop yesterday on the relative merits of Plan 9, not the one with cheap special effects but the OS with lots of cool new ideas. New being used in a relative sense as we are very much noobies to the OS.

Its been a while since we both felt the initial high on encountering a brand new OS. Plan 9 being very similar to Unix and Linux and being based on a lot of similar ideas yet seems very different at the same time, requiring you to learn things all over again. I haven't been RTFMing as much as I would like to, and probably would get the time in the coming days to do so, and I can't wait to settle down to an all nighter of Plan 9.

It has a wonderful architecture and design. In many ways, it feels like a "complete OS". I'm sad I've not had time to try it yet, but I had a chance to research it some three years back. Hmm, should give it a spin now. Please post your experiences here.
