About 4 or 5 weeks ago, i was selected (among 11 other students) to represent my school in the Mathematics Olimpics (which is the formal name of the competition); it was held 4 weeks ago.
The night before the contest, though, i was so nervous i didn't sleep a wink. I went, anyway, but with a damn big headache (i'd been awake for about 27 hours by then).
There were more than 1200 students from all over the country, distrubuted among 3 levels: First (7th and 8th grade), Intermediate (9th and 10th), and Advanced (11th and 12th).
The awards were awarded last friday (2002-06-28), and i got third place! That must have been the happiest hour of my life. It is impossible for me to describe how happy i was (indeed it is, i can't even remember how happy i was). Yes, that was my day in the sun.
Click here for a link to the page (it's in Spanish) listing the winners (look for "Daniel Wong" there).
You might try here (Google) for translation of it, but it borks the names of all the schools.
Congrats
Congratulations, Daniel! :^)
