The "Who's online" block is an indication of how many unique sessions have been served in the last 30 minutes. 600 is a fairly low number, certainly the server can handle much more than that.

The server was formatted with RedHat Fedora Core 1, but all running software was recompiled from source. Efficiency is gained in a number of ways, including the use of Apache 2, MySQL 4, the MM Turck PHP cache, and the latest version of Drupal with its many optimizations. The site runs on dedicated hardware with a fast internet connection.
