OpenBSD and DragonflyBSD collaboration

Theo de Raadt today announced, that he plans to incorporate the LWKT and the recent XIO subsystem of DragonFly BSD into OpenBSD. He hopes, that the stagnating SMP efforts in OpenBSD, can benefit from this.

I asked him, whether he wants to merge OpenBSD into DragonFly completely. Theo meant, that, although he favours this idea, would have a hard time convincing other developers to follow his lead, he fears subversive developers forking OpenBSD.

Is this for real?

I mean, wow. I like what Dragonfly is trying to accomplish, but I absolutely never thought Theo de Raadt would actually favour their design decisions. On second thought, given the breakneck speed that the dragonfly developers are going, it does make a lot of sense to go the LWKT way if you want good SMP support fast.

I'll be glued to my seat, watching how this will unfold.

yes!

Afaik, the passing of deadly.org is associated with this.
James R Phillip was informed by Theo, that he would dismiss OpenBSD in favor of DragonFly within the next few weeks. so he decided, that people should better not discuss this.

Merge sources?

I asked him, whether he wants to merge OpenBSD into DragonFly completely.

Do you have any sources for that, or is that another joke so common on April 1st?
