From: Malte Schröder <Malte.Schroeder@hanse.net> Subject: Re: 2.6.4-ck2 Date: Fri, 26 Mar 2004 19:10:11 +0100 I was experiencing "skips" in video while playing mpeg4-video with mplayer over a DVB-S-card (that means on-the-fly transcoding from mpeg4 to mpeg1) on kernel 2.6.4 with -ck1-patch. I thought it was a problem with mplayer, but it went away when I tried -ck2 :) Nice work. --------------------------------------- Malte Schröder [email blocked] ICQ# 68121508 ---------------------------------------
Good Stuff
So far, for lack of a better term, this runs like a dream. The staircase scheduler gives an incredible boost to the feel of performance-- even the normally interminable gedit comes up in 3 seconds on my machine.
In short, this is good stuff.
I prefer standard kernel
In my system, the responsiveness has decreased to unacceptable levels, in my P4-1600 most of time. For example, changing between galeon tabs delays 2 or 3 seconds!!!! Scrolling in galeon is painful. However, sometimes the process running galeon gets much more cpu than ever, and changing between tabs and scrolling is almost instantaneous.
