unable to open a suitable terminal device

unable to open a suitable terminal device, this is the error i get when i try to open a konsole in kde3 as a normal user (kernel 2.6.1)
As root i have no problems opening a konsole
Also when i boot a 2.4.20 kernel on the same system ... no problems.
Everything else runs fine.
any ideas ??

found a solution:
when u configure kernel
filessystems -> pseudo-filesystems -> /dev/pts
shoud be selected
