Well, I've been reading up on kernel hacking (Robert Love's Kernel Development and O'reily's Understanding the Linux Kernel) and have decieded to take the plunge and dive right on in.
I've been looking for a project to get involved in for quite some time now. I figure that working on and helping with the Linux kernel would be the most challenging and overall helpful to the linux community.
So, I'm downloading 2.6 and bitkeeper tonight.
Let the games begin!
What area?
What area of kernel development are you looking to work with? Scheduling? Drivers? General optimization? Bug fixing?
I've always enjoyed sniffing around the kernel, but am certainly not the sort to jump in and hack on it (perhaps when I can take a month off!!), so I'd be interested to see what sort of things you think you might get involved with. At the least, it means we can hassle you on here for new features, lol. ;-)
