Andrew Morton [interview] recently returned from a few weeks away from kernel development and released 2.6.0-test11-mm1 saying, "A fair number of new fixes, none of them very serious. Most notably, significant updates to the IDE drivers and to the psmouse, atkbd and synaptics drivers." He followed up his comment "a fair number of new fixes" saying "and new breakage too!", providing a small patch with the fix which is available below.
When asked his plans for the -mm patchset [forum] [howto] now that he's also maintaining the mainline 2.6 kernel, Andrew explained:
"We'll start merging it up after 2.6.0. It'll be quite a lot of work, actually - a lot of things have been parked in -mm for some time and may not have had sufficiently wide testing, especially on non-i386. I need to ask the originators and others to re-review and retest some things. I guess I'll keep -mm going until there's a reason not to."

Another compile problem x86_64
make install > /dev/null
fs/proc/task_mmu.c: In function `show_map':
fs/proc/task_mmu.c:127: error: `gate_dso_path' undeclared (first use in this function)
fs/proc/task_mmu.c:127: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
fs/proc/task_mmu.c:127: error: for each function it appears in.)
make[2]: *** [fs/proc/task_mmu.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [fs/proc] Error 2
make: *** [fs] Error 2
Now `gate_dso_path' is defined at line 81, under a conditional...
#ifdef AT_SYSINFO_EHDR
char gate_dso_path[256] = "";
...
#endif
Not knowing what is going on here, I'll just move the #ifdef down a line. This seems to allow the kernel to keep compiling.
(I was looking for a fix to the raid5 150MB/sec I/O limit in 2.6.0)
Raid0 runs 680MB/Sec on this setup :-)

-mm1 slows raid0
The edits to the raid code do NOT help the raid5 throttling of ~150MB/Sec, and seem to throttle raid0 down from 680MB/Sec to ~250MB/Sec. Maybe the changes to the read ahead clobber the ioctl
to set the read ahead size? I don't have time to dig into this now.
I have 16 drives, across 4 adaptec 39320 controller chanels. Under 2.4.23 this setup yeilds 400MB/Sec raid5 and 500MB/Sec raid0.
I see this on both the x86_64 and P4 Xeon machines.
