I just have a single IDE drive attached and the IDE driver that is loaded is CONFIG_PATA_SCH.

What does the above error message mean? Is it very fatal/serious?

Any one???

what else??

it says: Emask 0x10 (ATA bus error)

it doesn't get more specific.

because of this the bus is reset, which seems to fix the condition for a sort time.

what else do you want to know? obviously there's something wrong with the ATA bus. try safer configuration parameters or exchange the hardware (including cables). but everyone assumed you know this yourself... you didn't say much about your system btw., so people who had the same problem can't decide if their experiences are relevant for you.

What type of info should I give

This is a Intel Atom board with Poulsbo chipset (US15). I have one IDE controller and I can attach two IDE devices.

What are some of the safer configuration parameters that I can pass?

Please let me know if any detailed output/info is required.

Ahh I missed your reply. As for the hardware, it is a x86 computer with Intel Atom Z520 with US-15W poulsbo chipset with 40-pin IDE connector.
