KDE lockups under latest vanilla with CFS

Hi,

I'm experiencing strange KDE lockups after I leave my system alone for at least an hour and come back the system is frozen as if the desktop enviorment suffered some kind of cpu starvation. After a while it unfreezes. Nothing unusual in logs. The system is gentoo - thing happens with both 23-r1 and 23-r2 kernels. Is this CFS's fault?

How long of a while? First

How long of a while? First guess would be that things are paged out and are taking a little while to get paged back in. My second (and possibly related) guess would be a hard drive on its last legs. You may also be seeing a system timer issue (tickless, or an older ibm netvista machine?)
