The W.A.N.D.

Have you seen that new commercial, for the Dell Inspiron? The one that shows it coming in multiple colors. I love that commercial. It's nice to see a competitor to Apple coming out with a commercial that artistically competes.

But what really kicks ass about that commercial is the music in it. I looked it up this morning. It's by The Flaming Lips, and it's called The W.A.N.D. (The Will Always Negates Defeat). The guitar tone and the doubling of the bass part makes it just pound into my skull.

The only other song I ever heard by the Flaming Lips was "She Don't Use Jelly" back when I was a freshman at Purdue. I liked the song, but overall, I thought the band was a bit too experimental for my taste. Later, when I saw the documentary Fearless Freaks, I felt the same way, and didn't really pay attention.

There is a video for The W.A.N.D. on YouTube, but when I tried to play it, I discovered that Flash has stopped making any sound on my Linux box at home. Apparently I'm not the only one who's experiencing this. Anybody know why?
