Hi Tom. Android on FreeRunner is pretty new, as is Replicant on
FreeRunner.

QtMoko is fairly stable and responsive. It improves every release. I've
been using v26 for a while and was planning to install v31 later today.
One thing of note: qtmoko leaves contacts on the SIM which can be slow
(there is some local storage for numbers you have added on the phone
itself).

If you don't find QtMoko to your liking you can try out SHR or
Hackable::1, etc. There's some choice here - an amount that's very odd
for a phone. :)

I've been using my FreeRunner daily for about a year. The one that
drives me nuts is Bluetooth Disconnecting on Suspend, but the easiest
workaround for me is to leave the phone on the charger in the car (where
I actually need Bluetooth.)

which android do you use for now? cupcake or froyo?
i don't know cupcake (anymore), but qtmoko is faster than froyo (just from
feeling, i didn't measuring it). :)
if you don't know it: you could have more than one system on your moko, so
it's easy to try.. ;)

Hi, Tom,

Just try it.

And which version of android you tried? I think 2-4-2 (since September
probably) and FIFO depth (since something like Ferbruary 2010) improved
speed significantly, so may be worth trying newer version of android.

Gennady.

i did try cupcakes. since i dont have any experience with qt, i was just
wondering how the 'under the finger scroll/touch/response' speed is. not
sure if real numbers would make such a decision easier ;-)

thx !!!

Hi, Tom,

Here QtMoko is instant.

The feeling of touchscreen is much better with .34's driver without
filtering, i never have that 'missing' clicks than i have to reclick
which were real pain (for me) on early openmoko.

I don't know if Radek supply Qi with 2-4-2, but i am using 2-4-2
bootloader, and in fact scrolling is smooth (except inital loading
pictures, but it's acceptable even in that moment) and response to
clicks is just ok.

Gennady.
