well, envy me, too :-)

on my way home i went to a known good spot and started agpsui without much
avail.
after that i run a little script from the wiki

echo 1 > the file
/sys/devices/platform/s3c2440-i2c/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-0073/neo1973-pm-gps.0/pwron
grep GPGGA /dev/ttySAC1

almost immediately (ok, less than 1min) meaningfull lines begun to appear.
switching to agpsui showed several fixes. even after shutting down agpsui
and the script and trying again a few dozen meters later the script got
fixes after <1min.
agpsui shows 13 satellites if i read the AZ tab correctly.

that leaves at least two explanations:
- today was an exceptionally good day for germany, astronomically speaking
- the communication between the gsp chip and the gps applications has some
flaws
