Thanks.  I was doing that and could see that they were getting to the
one interface but not the other.  After giving up, coming back, and
messing with the DHCP server (dnsmasq) it has started working.


So it looks like the networking part was all right.  Preliminarily I see
some indications that the culprit looks like some problem or (my)
misinterpretation of dhcpd.conf.  I'll have to sleep on it and come back.

I should be able to write up the final result and post it on the web for
 anyone else to try.
