On  related note, Linux has recently introduced a 'relatime'
 	option, which only updates atime if it hasn't been updated
 	recently. http://kerneltrap.org/node/14148

 	Its a hack, but one which seems to squeeze a appreciable
 	amount of extra disk performance. Maybe a matching 'relmtime'
 	option could be a compromise here...
