The Package of the Month award goes (jointly) to:

+ pkgsrc/devel/monotone, nominated by Julio M. Merino Vidal - monotone
is a distributed version control system, which Julio liked for "its
ability to work completely offline and the use of cryptography to mark
concrete versions as trusted or not. Aside from this, it is written
in C++, uses SQLite to store the data (and changes) in a database, and
its functionality can be configured through simple Lua hooks." and

+ pkgsrc/net/ntop, nominated by myself - ntop is an excellent utility
for showing network traffic via a network browser (not included) to
show network traffic information and get a dump of the network status.
I was quite overwhelmed by it, and am prepared to overlook its
recognition of NetBSD machines as either Windows or Mac OS X machines
because of the excellent overview ntop provides.

Please note that we have removed the old, insecure, kde2 and suse 6.4
packages.

My thanks to Julio also for his package alternatives framework which
was added to pkgsrc this month, and my thanks to all the pkgsrc
developers for their hard work.
