[RFC][PATCH 0/7] Clone PTS namespace
Devpts namespace patchset In continuation of the implementation of containers in mainline, we need to support multiple PTY namespaces so that the PTY index (ie the tty names) in one container is independent of the PTY indices of other containers. For instance this would allow each container to have a '/dev/pts/0' PTY and refer to different terminals. From: Sukadev Bhattiprolu <sukadev@us.ibm.com> Subject: [RFC][PATCH 6/7]: Determine pts_ns from a pty's inode. The devpts interfaces currently operate on a specific pts namespace which they get from the 'current' task. With implementation of containers and cloning of PTS namespaces, we want to be able to access PTYs in a child-pts-ns from a parent-pts-ns. For instance we could bind-mount and pivot-root the child container on '/vserver/vserver1' and then access the "pts/0" of 'vserver1' us...

To enable such access we must hold a reference to the pts-ns in which the device (ptmx or slave pty) exists. [RFC] Control Groups Roadmap ideas
This is a list of some of the sub-projects that I'm planning for Control Groups, or that I know others are planning on or working on. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. 1) Stateless subsystems ----- This was motivated by the recent "freezer" subsystem proposal, which included a facility for sending signals to all members of a cgroup. This wasn't specifically freezer-related, and wasn't even something that needed particular per-cgroup state - its only state is that set of processes, whic...

signalfd() not handling sigqueue() sigval data correctly
Hi Davide, I was doing some playing about with signalfd(), and seem to have encountered a bug: when a signalfd read() fetches data for a signal that was sent by sigqueue(), the data accompanying the signal is not returned. Instead ssi_int/ssi_ptr is zero. I've not looked into the cause of the problem, but the programs below can be used to demonstrate it. Here's an example run: # Run in the background, waiting for signal 44. $ ./signalfd_sigval 44 & ./signalfd_sigval: PID = 14783 [1] ...

Are you able to fetch those info with, say, sigtimedwait(2)? - Davide --

[PATCH] x86_64: Change FIRST_SYSTEM_VECTOR to a variable.
Subject: [PATCH] x86_64: Change FIRST_SYSTEM_VECTOR to a variable. From: Alan Mayer <ajm@sgi.com> The SGI UV system needs several more system vectors than a vanilla x86_64 system. Rather than burden the other archs with extra system vectors that they don't use, change FIRST_SYSTEM_VECTOR to a variable, so that it can be dynamic. megaraid sas driver
I am curious to ask, why were these lines omitted from the megaraid SAS driver with kernel version 2.6.15 onwards. In my opinion these were blocking physical disks which were part of a RAID set on the controller from being visible to OS. Is this correct? Thanks, Rakesh ---------------- megaraid_sas.c /* 989 * Don't export physical disk devices to mid-layer. 990 */ 991 if (!MEGASAS_IS_LOGICAL(cmd->scmd) && 992...

DRM modesetting & sysfs
[Sorry for the DUP, forgot to cc lkml] I just pushed a few changes updating the DRM modesetting sysfs support, both for debugging and eventual HAL friendliness. So far, the support is limited to describing outputs and generating hotplug events. A typical "card0" directory now looks like this: . |-- card0-DAC-1 | |-- device -> ../../../../../../devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/drm/card0 | |-- dpms | |-- edid | |-- modes | |-- power | | `-- wakeup | |-- status | |-- ...

Re: [ANN] WiMAX stack and drivers for Intel WiMAX Link 5050
This is a temporary situation with supplicant while we resolve some licensing issues. You should soon see us link with the opensource supplicant. Our intention is to use all open source components whenever available. rgds Jayant --

[PATCH 2/3] cpumask: use new cpus_scnprintf function v3
* Cleaned up references to cpumask_scnprintf() and added new cpulist_scnprintf() interfaces where appropriate. * Fix some small bugs (or code efficiency improvments) for various uses of cpumask_scnprintf. * Clean up some checkpatch errors. Is this right, that you switch from MAX_NUMNODES to NR_CPUS? Regards Bert --

Re: [PATCH 2/3] cpumask: use new cpus_scnprintf function v3
It's printing the number of cpus on a node, so the number of nodes is not important, it's how many cpus can fit on the head of a node... ;-) Thanks, Mike --
