Freshly pulled 2.6.23.git failed to build:

make[1]: *** No rule to make target `arch/x86/kernel/asm-offsets.c', needed by `arch/x86/kernel/asm-offsets.s'.  Stop.

make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
