You need a "Novell external" account (for lack of a better name).

Now either you become the creator of a project, or request (to a
project) that your login become enabled for that project.  The admin
adds your Novell login to the project, you upload your SSH public key,
and with a liberal sprinkling of pixie dust, everything works.
