Sorry about the problems. The corrupt tar images in parts of the SLS area were only with the tsx-11 mirror, the funet and sunsite mirrors were OK. The problem was caused by blocks going bad on the disk that the tsx-11 mirror is stored on. These were patched but, unfortunetly, the blocks ended up null (all zeros). The unix disk checker, fsck, does not check the contents of files so the problem went undetected. We hope to move to brand new disks at the end of the month, touch-wood. -- -- Lee McLoughlin.
