Thanks for all replies - nearly all were requests for this summery ;-)

OK, I got this streamer. It's identical to Viper 2525S SCSI from
Archive Technology.

It's easy to connect - thanks SCSI.

The devices you need are 9/0 (with auto rewind on close) and 128/0
(without auto rewind). For the second tape, you need minor numbers 1 and
129.

test environnement: 386 DX 40 / 16 MB RAM
                    Linux 0.99pl11
                    Adaptec 1542 B
2 Conner SCSI Drives, 210 MB
                    GNU tar version 1.11.2
mt (I think form tsx-11 or sunsite)

The troughput of a full tar backup (about 360 MB) was about 8.5 MB per
minute - it could be higher, but while backing up a lot of small files
(about 50 MB newsspool), the streamer stops sometimes.

Without these stops, the troughput is one ore two MB per minute higher.

mt is working without any changes.

In Germany, you get this streamer for about 900 DM, 15 % tax incl.
(1 USD is about 1.75 DM).

If there are still any questions, please EMail me.

Bye,

        Micha
