Didn't any of y'all ever think of typing "HELP HELP"?  RTFM!  You can, e.g.,

        $ help/noprompt/nopage/output=dir.help dir...
        
And then print, grep (I mean, err, search), etc. the file to your hearts'
delight.  

Again, apologies for talking VMS (ugh! -- I always make that sound when
I say VMS (ugh!)) in a newsgroup dedicated to a far worthier cause.
