I had the same; when I made the i-protocol window smaller (6 instead
of the default 16) the errors went away (but I still must use 19200
instead of 38400). Apparently it is a flow control problem. But it's
strange because under different circumstances my (rtscts) flow control
between the DTE and the modem seems to work. I'm still puzzled, but at
least 19200 baud together with a window of 6 works.
