After recompling the kernel, I get the error:

  387 failed: trying to reset

  I get it over and over...  I'm using .99pl9 SLS release,
on a 486DX and the coprocessor is working fine.  I tried 
compling it with and without kernel math emulation setting
from make config.  It correctly ID's my coproc with
exception 16 error reporting.  It works fine with the 
orignal Image file from the install, so I know I must
be doing someting wrong... I checked the FAQ and net
and have found no help.  So.. Does anyone know what
I'm doing..  TIA
