In answer to my own question...I knew this would happen LOSER ERROR on
my part.  

And on the 8th day Linus created bread in addition to getblk and said,
        'Let those who need data from a block use bread'
(Of course I'm using creative license to recreate the moment...characters
        and those involved in the above may not actually have used these
        phrases and the situation may have been completely made up on
        my part)
