I have Linux (from SLS 1.0) and MS-DOS 6.0 on my system, and it works.
The partition from which I boot DOS is not Doublespaced, but another
DOS partition is Doublespaced. I can mount the non-Doublespaced DOS
partition under Linux, and read and write to it.

Here are two things I have not tried:

1. I have not tried to install LILO. (I just boot Linux from a
floppy.) Some people have posted messages saying LILO does not work
with DOS 6. Has anyone gotten LILO to work with DOS 6?

2. I have not tried to mount a Doublespaced partition under Linux. I
realize that if I did this, I would not be able to access the
compressed files, but I think I should be able to access the
non-compressed part of the Doublespace partition. Has anybody tried
this?
