Yes, I have heard in the past that splitting the comp.os.linux newsgroup into several newsgroups would not work, but I think that when people have to wade through 150 articles a day, it might be time to split them up. The number is never going to go down and doing it sooner might be better than later. I don't really know about appropriate subdivisions, but here is an idea. comp.os.linux.announce comp.os.linux.apps comp.os.linux.misc comp.os.linux.programmer comp.os.linux.setup the only other one would be comp.os.linux.advocacy, but I'm not certain that many newsgroups would be a good idea.
