AREA:COMP.OS.LINUX From: davidsen@ariel.crd.GE.COM (william E Davidsen) Organization: GE Corporate R&D Center, Schenectady NY In article <732740344.F00011@remote.halcyon.com>, Yousuf.Khan@p6.f215.n163.z1.fidonet.org (Yousuf Khan) writes: | No, I think the problem people are having with implementing DPMI under | Linux is not that it will corrupt Linux, nor is it that DPMI is too | tightly integrated into Windows. But that the DPMI API is so | complicated. It has dozens of functions and subfunctions, it's something | that a team of programmers have to do, not one guy hacking in his spare | time. Pardon, but you are posting in a group dedicated to the work of one man who wrote an entire operating system from scratch. I don't think there's any question that DPMI could be done as a spare time project, but rather the question is if the emulation is worth the effort of the person who would do it. So far the answer is no, or perhaps "not yet." -- bill davidsen, GE Corp. R&D Center; Box 8; Schenectady NY 12345
