Hmm, I had exactly the opposite problem last night when I installed LILO 8
last night using the included QuickInst installation script (which, by the
way, makes Lilo installation totally painless and easy).  All I had to do
was comment out the "vga = normal" line in /etc/lilo/config and run
/etc/lilo/install.  I don't know anything about LILO 7, but adding this
line to your config file may be what you need to do.
