The solution is easy:
Grab the ps sources from sunsite.unc.ed:/pub/Linux/system and recompile 
the ps package. Remember: every time you have installed a new kernel
sources, you may have to recompile the ps sources! 

After you have installed the ps binaries (ps, w free, fstat,...)  do a
"ps -U" and you're done.
