The 0.97pl5 kernel now contains the scsi code that is needed for the cdrom, but the filesystem is not yet a part of the kernel because it is eventually envisioned (by Linus) that this will be installable at run time once the installable driver/filesystem code is working in the kernel. Until the loadable filesystem stuff is ready, the filesystem will have to be installed the old-fashion way. Thus I have prepared cdrom-0.5.tar.Z, and put it in the ALPHA/cdrom directory on tsx-11.mit.edu. This new file contains *only* the filesystem, as that is all that you will need for now. There are no functional changes to the filesystem since 0.97 pl4 was released. -- Eric Youngdale eric@tantalus.nrl.navy.mil
