I've got a modem hooked up to linux and am currently using the getty supplied on root-0.96 with limited success: it connects fine but requires a CR from the remote end to issue login, and won't hang up the modem after logout. The modem is set up to disconnect on dropped DTR. Today I somehow goofed things up byt typing "stty 0" on the remote. The modem hung up but won't answer now (have to go home and see what's the problem). These are not unusual things to do, right? I'd like to chuck that getty, but read question #2: Question #2: Since the supplied getty requires the modem to auto-answer, disable echo, and other stuff not conducive to outdial use, I compiled the getty_ps202 package, but it won't run - linked shared, it says "/lib/libc2.2.2" then exits (I do have /lib/libc2.2.2 though), and linked static it just exits w/o any error. My system: linux 0.97, 486 CPU, GCC 2.2.2. Right now I'm thinking of compiling a generic getty from standard unix sources. Any ideas? -- David L.
